Folk Meadery is a beer brand that has been brewed, designed and illustrated by myself. Folk Meadery combines seasonal ingredients and modern processes into Modern beers, inspired by medieval styles. The traditional term for a mead/beer hybrid is a Braggot. At Folk Meadery, we brew every recipe with honey harvested from my own families hives. Each style of beer employs the honey in a different way. For our Bouchet Porter, Black Shuck, we caramelise the honey and add it early. But for our Elderflower Pale Ale, The Elder Mother, we cold infuse the flowers into the honey and add just before fermenting.
Folk Meadery aims to reconnect people with folk from the Yesteryears. People who worked the land and could identify a plethora of forgeable goods. In an age of information, Folk Meadery slows things down and connects us to the simplicity of the past, and to the natural world around us, that’s waiting to be rediscovered.
